Virtual isocenter for non-co-planar radiation
Virtual isocenter for non-co-planar radiation

INVITATION: Possibilities for non-co-planar radiation in radiotherapy

„Stereotactic radiation using a virtual isocenter to move the patient towards the radiation device – preliminary observations“

On the occasion of the 47. Jahrestagung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Medizinische Physik (DGMP) e. V. and 19. Jahrestagung der Deutschen Sektion der International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) e. V. in Würzburg, Germany, we will be glad to inform you about:

„Virtual isocenter for enabling large spatial angles for non-co-planar radiation. Synchronization of the gantry and couch movement allows the definition of a virtual isocenter. The distance between the patient and the radiation device can be altered in this manner. The system behaves as though there were an increased distance between the radiation source and the isocenter.”

Non-Co-Planar Radiation in Radiotherapy,
in Würzburg, September 2016, 7th – 10th

virtual isocenter for increasing distance in radiation treatment
Published by K. Bratengeier und S. Wegener, S., submitted to „Strahlentherapie und Onkologie“.

From 7. – 9. September 2016 we will present at the industrial exhibition the possibilities of optimized treatment in radiation therapy with RPS base.
RPS base is a robot couch system with almost unlimited possibilities and consequent advantages:

  • Excellent rigidity
  • 6 DoF, 6 degrees of freedom for optimized  positioning
  • Thanks to the use of a virtual isocenter, not only can the spatial angle for non-co-planar radiation be increased, but most importantly it is also possible to achieve an enormous improvement in the avoidance of collisions
  • 100 % mobile with extremely gentle movements
